Help shape our region’s next rapid transit expansion program. Bus Rapid Transit is coming to Metro Vancouver! TransLink is developing the region’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) program to bring the benefits of fast, frequent, and reliable transit to more parts of the region.BRT is a form of bus-based rapid transit that runs high-frequency service in dedicated lanes. This kind of service uses stations instead of bus stops to make waiting more comfortable and to make boarding more efficient.There are 3 key features of a BRT system:Frequent service means less time spent waiting for your next ride.Fast and reliable service with dedicated lanes and transit signal priority.Stations to make waiting more comfortable and to support fast boarding.We’re in the early stages of an ambitious plan to build up to nine BRT projects across the region, as outlined in Access for Everyone. King George Boulevard, Langley – Haney Place, and Metrotown – North Shore have been selected as the first three corridors to advance to further planning, engagement, and implementation.At this stage, we want to hear from you about your priorities for a Bus Rapid Transit system in Metro Vancouver. Bus Rapid Transit Program

The 2024 Investment Plan will address critical transit service needs on the region&rsquo;s most overcrowded routes. The plan responds to Metro Vancouver&rsquo;s unprecedented growth, while preparing to implement the ten-year Access for Everyone plan. With 90,000 new residents moving to the region in 2023 alone, we must invest in our system now to keep up with this growth. For details, please read the <a href="https://www.translink.ca/-/media/translink/documents/plans-and-projects/ten-year-investment-plan/public-consultation/2024-investment-plan-discussion-guide.pdf">2024 Investment Plan Discussion Guide</a>. Key priorities in the 2024 Investment Plan include:<ul><li>Better bus frequencies on approximately 60 bus routes</li><li>Extending operating hours for 11 bus routes</li><li>Expanding the bus fleet to prepare for bus rapid transit</li><li>Increasing Canada Line frequencies by 14 per cent during peak hours</li><li>Earlier first weekday SeaBus sailing by 15 minutes (5:47 a.m. southbound/6:01 a.m. northbound)</li><li>Enhanced late evening HandyDART service</li><li>Investments in new cycling and walking infrastructure</li><li>New bus priority infrastructure</li></ul>While the 2024 Investment Plan stabilizes finances in the short term, a new sustainable funding model is needed to advance priority projects outlined in the Access for Everyone plan. TransLink is continuing to work with senior government partners to secure a new funding model that will support regional transportation and keep up with growth for years to come.Transit is the key to unlocking affordable housing, a thriving local economy, and reaching our climate targets. Investing in public transit ensures residents can stay connected to job opportunities, educational institutions, and essential services &ndash; no matter where they live in the region.

2024 Investment Plan

TransLink and the City of Richmond have heard concerns from residents and businesses about the current bus circulation, and bus stop and layover locations in Steveston Village.

Steveston Bus Exchange Engagement

TransLink is seeking public input on proposed service improvements that will upgrade route 23 from community shuttles to 40-foot buses &ndash; more than doubling the capacity of the route, addressing overcrowding and pass ups, and ultimately improving the customer experience.
